Overcoming Our Limiting Behavior

We at wHolistic ChangeSM have talked about specific ways to overcome organizational resistance to change (keeping the change simple, ensuring incentives are aligned, involving middle managers), how to handle the resistance, and maintaining your sense of humor. But Christine Comaford's Forbes article, I Stalked Steve Jobs (And How To Get A Meeting With ANY VIP), reminded me that all change agents have to overcome the limitations we put on ourselves (which may then limit the potential in the team around us). After successfully getting the meeting she wanted, Christine Comaford wrote the best description of how to overcome our own, personal resistance to change:

Forty five minutes later... my head bursting with the remarkable, complex, complete vision of Steve Jobs in my head, I made a commitment.I would no longer see barricades. Stumbling blocks would now be seen as stepping stones to something better, or something to crawl over or walk around. Previous limitations would now be a mere triviality, at worst a slight inconvenience. There were insanely great things to create and we were here to create them and that’s all there was to it. All thoughts to the contrary were irrelevant. That’s how I still live today.

May we all be inspired to view our challenges as opportunities and not waver on our paths to creating great things!
